“I Paint, Therefore I Am” ~Marisol

I have never been an overtly political person, and certainly, would not consider myself to be a ‘political artist’ but I am a social artist. My artwork pushed me to question social roles in society and in particular the question of freedom. What is freedom? I asked. Is a human being free to pursue his or her dreams fully in society without discrimination and interruptions? How much artistic expression as well as freedom to listen, watch, protest, or participate is allowed? Is the natural world free? In this sense, Freedom––the intrinsic importance of life–is the act to colour.

I am a multidisciplinary researcher and visual artist. I have a Master of Education degree in Higher Education in collaboration with the Comparative International program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto. Also, I have a Ph.D. in Leadership, Higher and Adult Education from the same institution.

What is Art?

For me, “Art is communication and evolves with the intersection of colours, spontaneous volumes, shapes, feelings, and beauty.”

The Mission…

My mission is to art talk and place the arts and culture as a top priority in the city, and to help other artists show their work as well. In that sense, I have become an Online Art Curator. If you would like me to write about you and post about your work, just give me a shout! I’ll be happy to consider it!
